Theateradvies shortlisted for theatres in West Kowloon Cultural District in Hong Kong

Theateradvies is one of the 6 selected theatre consultants for the 2nd and 3rd theatre complex (Freespace and Centre for Contemporary Performance) in the West Kowloon Cultural District in Hong Kong, a master plan of Foster + Partners. The WKCD organized a separate international competition for the theatre consultant. For these theatre complexes they also organized international competitions for the design teams.

FreeSpace will be one of the most important venues for contemporary music and fully integrated into the landscape of the park. Spread over 7000m ², Freespace includes the FreeSpace theatre, a multipurpose music hall for 450-900 spectators, the Music Box, a venue for live music for 150-300 spectators, the Outdoor Stage, 200 spectators,  Events area The Lawn, for 6.000-10.000 visitors and various exhibition spaces.

For the park, including Freespace,  7 international design teams are selected. Each design team will be expanded with one of the selected theatre consultants. The 7 teams must submit a detailed plan before the end of 2012 and in the beginning of 2013, the winner will be announced.

The architect competition for the Centre for Contemporary Performance will follow later in 2013. Theateradvies is also shortlisted for this theatre complex.
