Theateradvies Strengthens its Team with a Museum Consultant
December 3rd, 2015
With the increasing demand for museum consulting services, Theateradvies has decided to strengthen its team with museum consultant Rutger van Dijk starting January 1st, 2016.
In recent years, Theateradvies was involved in the design and construction of various museums. For the new entrance for the Van Gogh museum, Theateradvies was responsible for the logistics. The Van Gogh museum is the second most visited museum in Amsterdam. A new entrance was needed to directly connect the museum to Museumplein, but also to ensure a better accessibility to the museum itself. Theateradvies researched public streams in the museum and advised on an integral approach, eliminating bottlenecks and thereby using the museum’s capacity more efficiently and making a welcoming environment to its visitors. We advised on the design of the wardrobe, the rest rooms and the capacity and position of escalators and elevators. Furthermore, Theateradvies wrote the program of requirements for the renovation for the Valkhof Museum in Nijmegen and was involved as a facilitator.
Rutger van Dijk (49) worked many years as theatre technician, lighting technician, stage manager and consultant in museums and theatres and thus brings a wealth of experience with him. During the last 10 years, he was co-owner of Rapenburg Plaza. In this position, he was a designer, consultant and project manager for the construction and renovation of many museums in the Netherlands and abroad. He was recently involved in the renovation of National Maritime Museum and the newly built National Military Museum. Rutger is specialized in the design of museum lighting, lighting control, AV systems, content management and ICT.
For the last while, Rutger had seen the need to officially separate his activities as a consultant from the supply and maintenance of equipment. By working for Theateradvies, he can now fully focus on his work as an independent museum consultant and Theateradvies can henceforth provide its clients an even better service in that area.
